Bruce Keener’s Lifestream

Welcome to My LifeStream

Up until a few days ago, I had never even heard the term "lifestream." Now I have one, of sorts.

Why set something like this up? After all, I already have the Keener Living blog, Twitter, Friendfeed, and my Tumblr Blog, so why another outlet? Because I felt that I needed an outlet for "thinking out loud." Admittedly I can do that to some degree with the other outlets, but I really am trying to keep Keener Living useful, and to not fill it with posts where I do not provide something that the readers can use. Twitter and Friendfeed provide a means for thinking out loud, of course, but they are really limited in the amount of content you can publish in one "post." And, I have been using the Tumblr blog as link blog, one in which I just share links to articles that have interested me.

So, a separate, personal blog seemed in order. I find that have missed having the "thinking out loud" platform that I used to have with my "bkreflections" blog (which I closed down a few years ago). And, after watching Steve Rubel's Lifestream for a few days, I finally became convinced to go ahead and set up a lifestream.

So, what will I "think out loud" about? Probably more types of things than I can think about at present. I can think of some examples, though:

  • Summaries of interesting points that I find in books, points that I don't necessarily know how to apply, or even agree with, but points that are of considerable interest to me.
  • Some of my thinking on theological matters. For example, at this time I am an agnostic, to the point of almost being an atheist, and I want to talk through some of the things that have turned me back in that direction. Some of these have to do with matters of science and psychology, and some have to do with personal experiences.

My posts will be informal, but I will aim to still make them informative. They will not offer a "tip of the week" for you. Rahter, they will be thoughts that you might want to think about yourself. I may end a typical post with questions, not answers, so that we all have something to think about. It is my belief that we do not do enough thinking. Too much of what we do is just us operating in automatic. I am trying to remedy that in my life, and I hope that my thinking out loud will give you some things to think about, too.

When I post such "stuff," I am hoping that you will chime in with your thoughts, so that we can learn from each other. I fully expect that many of you would see things differently, and, by sharing your views, I get to learn something from you. Perhaps you may raise points that turn me back from agnosticism ... I truly try to remain to other intelligent views. And, hopefully you get to learn something from me in the process, too.

I'll probably begin posting tomorrow, and I would expect to post a few to several posts per week, most weeks. (There may be weeks when I post almost nothing ... we'll just have to see how this goes.)
